If you pay attention to independent music in Orlando, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of alt-country favorite The Heathens (Post*Records). They’ve gained quite a following around town, and, like almost every other Orlando band, all of the members are in other bands, have their own solo acts, duets, etc. This video was directed by Benjamin M Piety, who is a member of Fantacine (I believe that’s “Fantah-sinnuh”), whatever that means… the same group also also produced of the excellent short Mr. Malakai Battles the Aeroplane (30 second clip, Drew Blatman, 2006), which I had the pleasure of viewing at the Orlando Film Festival this year. Apparently, I even gave some technical help to someone producing graphics for the film, namely the plane. Nothing to brag about, but fun to be connected even in a small way.
Fantacine’s work has also been featured on Orlando cable access Vision TV’s Cinema Cafe. If you have a DVR and Bright House at home, you should be recording this program. Why? Because you’re reading this blog, silly!
Now that I have done my first video post, I can check and see if Democracy Player will gracefully handle a feed with YouTube videos in it, and how smart Vox is in this situation as well. Here goes nothing!
Speaking of first video post, the best way for more video posts to show up here is by your participation. Send me video files or links and I’ll post them here. liberatr [at] gmail dot com
