I am not posting this video to endorse the Sweet Kings as much as Will’s Pub, which has stood as an Orlando institution for several years now. Sadly for some, Will’s Pub is being forced out of their original Loch Haven location for favor of land developers and reportedly a hotel.
Will’s Pub was unique in Orlando among concert venues because of the two-room layout: the front room was a bar with billiards and a jukebox, and the back room was a sticker-splattered area that hosted hundreds of concerts over the years. Will’s is now in the process of relocating right down the street to Colonial Drive / Highway 50 just West of Mill’s Ave.
I think the new location used to be a theatre (it is the shorter building in the picture), though what kind I’m not sure. There might be some more info in the Orlando Weekly. One fun thing about the new location is the proximity to Little Vietnam and Dandelion CommuniTEA. I’m not sure where people will park for shows as of yet, but I like the idea of being able to stop for some food or a hot drink before/after.
In an effort to get back to the format, I’ll pump for submissions. If you have any videos or know of any videos you would like to see in this space (or even if you would be interested in helping out with the blog) send an email over to liberatr [at] gmail dot com and I will act accordingly to the nature of your request.
